Provincial Chapter - April 8 -15, 2024

The Province Chapter of Mangalore Province commenced from April 8- 15, 2024 at Queen of Apostles Convent, Vamanjoor. The 17 Ex- Officio members, 21 Delegates and 1 Junior sister Representative participated in the Chapter.  The theme of the Chapter was ‘SRA: Journeying forward as Beacon of Hope’

Provincial Chapter - April 8 -15, 2024

The Chapter began with two days of Orientation on April 8-9, 2024 which was guided by Rev. Fr. Joseph Rodrigues SJ. These were the days of silence, prayer and reflection. Fr Joseph guided the Delegates of the Chapter to prepare well for their participation in the Provincial Chapter. Various sessions on Hope, guidance on SWOT Analysis, Discernment, Vows and Mission were given during these days of Orientation.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Joseph Rodrigues on April 8th which was the Feast of Annunciation. During the homily stated that it’s indeed an auspicious day to begin the Provincial Chapter where Mary said ‘yes’ to God’s call to be the Mother of God’s Son. Chapter delegates who represent the communities are called to listen to the Word of God, discern His will and respond as Mary said ‘yes’. 

On April 10, 2024, Votive Mass in honour of the Holy Spirit was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Anil D’Mello SJ, who is also the Moderator for the Provincial Chapter. In his homily he highlighted the importance of Speaking with courage and listening with humility.

Thereafter the procession to the Chapter Hall was held, as Sr Leena Valookaran SRA, Provincial Superior held high the Word of God, followed by the Emblem of the Congregation and all the Delegates with the lighted lamps moved towards the Chapter Hall. A meaningful Prayer Service was conducted and the Provincial Chapter was inaugurated with the lighting of the Lamp and garlanding the Bible. Fr. Anil D’Mello blessed the gathering. With this the Chapter was declared open and proceedings of the Chapter began.

On April 15, 2024, the Chapter was concluded with a meaningful prayer service and symbolism of bearing the lighted torch, carrying the light of Christ forward to the world.
