Social Developmental Ministry

Mission

"To witness and proclaim the compassionate love of God to all in the society empowering them to create a new world order, especially the women, marginalized and the vulnerable people of our society".

Perceiving the Indian scenario, it could be stalwartly said that the presence of the religious, principally, Christian missionaries has led to societal transformation in rural places.

We the SRA sisters too offer our paramount contribution towards the society for change and progress. The Social apostolate in the Karnataka - Goa province is being carried out keeping in mind our mission statement.

This indeed was the aspiration of our founder Fr Antonius Maria Bodewig. Therefore social work was set in motion in the remotest villages through the social work centres based at Vamanjoor, Kallianpur, Honavar, Sorab, Khanapur, Mansapur, Canacona and Bidar.

The social work in the province is well established with commendable infrastructure and corresponding with strength of the supportive staff. Thanks to our administration over the years for training good number of our sisters in this field.

The remarkable contribution in this regard goes to Sr.Maria Goretti who, from a tiny dot to make the stream of life giving water to thousands of beneficiaries all over Karnataka. The contribution to the poor wins her Czeck Republic award in 2003.

Deepalaya: Integrated Vocational Training Centre for the Physically Challenged

We ventured to Bidar mission 20 years ago to the place called Santhpur and recently to Ujjni. This taluk is remotest area in all the dimensions among the 5 talukas of Bidar District.

In this lonely and barren land the sacrifice and the willingness of the pioneers took a great risk to open a dispensary and a tailoring unit. Keeping in mind the vision of Fr. Bodewig we have opened a boarding and Deepalaya residence for the physically challenged. There are 40 students availing the facility.
