MISSION IN EUROPE

Prayer Apostolate

Our Mother house is the powerhouse of Prayer. All the sisters spent time in prayer and adoration placing before the Blessed Sacrament all the intentions of the congregation and its mission.

Apostolate of the Written Word

Sisters render their dedicated Service in the Mission Office which is related to the Apostolate of the Written Word which was very much emphasized by our Founder Fr. Antonius Maria Bodewig and Co-Founder Fr.Paul Sonntag.

Nursing and Pastoral Care of the Sick and elderly

Our Sisters carry out joyfully their mission of serving the Sick and Old in the Hospitals and in Home for the Aged in Vienna, in the Mother house, in Hollabrunn and in Hallenberg. Some render their service to the Sick and dying helping them to accept their pains and sufferings in faith with the Lord as well as helping them to say Goodbye to this world gracefully.

Pastoral Ministry & Spiritual Guidance

Sisters are engaged as Pastoral Assistants in different Parishes, preparing the Children for the First Communion and Confirmation, guiding the Altar boys and girls, contacting the people, listening to them and helping them as they are in need of. They also offer spiritual Guidance and inputs in different Parishes and Schools as invited. Youth Apostolate is also taken care by the Pastoral Assistants in the Parishes to strengthen the faith and reawaken in them the desire to serve the Church.

Kindergarten

Our sisters are engaged in educating small children in Kindergarten. They gradually implant faith in the young mind. Through this Apostolate they also come in contact with the parents and guide them in their life and help deepening their faith.

SLOVAKIA MISSION

The origin and Mission

Slovakia is a small country with a population of five and half million, among whom are also Hungarians, Czechs, Russians, Orthodox Christians, and Gypsies. Although it is situated in the center of Europe, the development has been very slow after the collapse of the Communist Regime.

Our Sisters set foot in Slovakia in the year 1992 for the first time. As it is said, "history repeats itself", the pioneers of this mission, Sisters Callista, Amabel, Magdali, and Joicy also had to undergo a tough time to get rooted in this new mission field. In the year 1993 we were formally invited by the Diocese of Nitra and began our missionary endeavors. In 1996 we purchased an old house with a plot of land from the SVD Fathers and got established our first community in Calvary Parish.

"Those who sow with tears reap with joy" is our experience today; after the initial struggle and experience of rejection from some corners, so many doors are open before us today to actualize our Charism in different ways. On the onset we began our mission in collaboration with Caritas serving the old and sick in their homes, bringing Holy Communion to the sick, etc. In 1999, Sr. Laura, the only local sister began to work in Nitra City Hospital as a full time nurse in the cancer department until she was missioned in Uganda mission. Sisters also render their service in the Parish to prepare for First Communion, Confirmation, and Children's Mass.

We take the opportunity to proclaim the Word of God in collaboration with priests invited from India, like Fr. James Manjackal, Fr. Bill, Fr. James Mariakumar, Fr. Dheeraj Sabu, Bro. Thomas Paul and others.

Our community welcomes people to come and spend time with the Lord, especially on first Thursdays where we have whole day adoration to the Blessed Sacrament.

In 2004 our old house was renovated and we began a small hostel for college students which serve as income generating apostolate as well as an effective apostolate for young women.

At present our sisters, though only four in number are engaged in various activities like: conducting weekend seminars and renewal programmes for the youth, going to different schools and parishes with the Diocesan Pastoral Vocation Promotion Team, special summer vocation camps for the youth along with the SVD priests and religious congregations. Indeed we have every reason to thank the Lord for providing two vocations from Slovakia.
